Line Bore vs Custom Bore for Closets in Mozaik (PAC Closet Library)

Phill Anton |

For closets in the PAC Mozaik Closet Library, PAC recommends full line bore unless you absolutely have to switch. Line bore gives the easiest install and full adjustability. Custom bore drills holes only where needed for a cleaner, hole-free look, but you give up adjustability. Shotgun bore means a part creates its own hole only where it sits.

What is the difference?

  • Full line bore (recommended): panels carry a full pattern of holes. Easiest install, best adjustability for the customer, and all hardware and accessories drop right in.
  • Custom bore: holes only where needed. Adjustable shelves still get full holes, but fixed shelves, hanging rods, drawer hardware, and doors are shotgun bored. Cleaner, with no visible holes, but you lose adjustability and add manufacturing care.

What is shotgun bore?

A part (like a fixed shelf) creates its own hole in the panel, only where it sits. With line bore the holes are pre-drilled in a full pattern and parts just assume a hole is there.

PAC's recommendation

Stick with full line bore unless you truly must switch (no drill block, a picky customer, or a high-end home that wants no holes). The library handles custom bore too. See switching to custom boring.

Both boring strategies are pre-built into the PAC Mozaik Closet Library. Start on full line bore for easy install, switch to custom bore when a job needs it, with no setup required.

FAQ

Should I use full line bore or custom bore for closets?

PAC recommends full line bore unless you absolutely have to switch. Line bore gives easy install and full adjustability. Use custom bore only for a hole-free look (no drill block, picky or high-end customer).

What is shotgun bore?

Shotgun bore means the part (e.g. a fixed shelf) creates its own female hole in the panel, only where needed, versus line bore's full pre-drilled hole pattern.
