In Mozaik, the Phill Anton Consulting (PAC) angled shoe shelf insert is "one insert to rule them all": a single insert that automatically sizes the shoe shelf to the opening width, lets you pick from five fence brands (each with its own color), and pre-drills every brand's holes from underneath — no flip operations. It ships with the PAC Closet Library but works in any cabinet. You open it, set the number of shelves and fastener type, choose a brand, and let it adjust.
What is the PAC angled shoe shelf insert?
It is a single Mozaik insert that PAC built for the PAC Closet Library (it can also be dropped into any other cabinet). Phill calls it "one insert to rule them all." The shelf is angled and fully adjustable, secured with cam adjusters underneath. The standout behavior: the insert automatically adjusts the shoe shelf to the width of the cabinet opening, and it can switch the fence brand and color on the fly. All the holes for every supported brand are already in the insert. Under the hood there are roughly 750 items (shoe fences, custom parts, and adjustable shelves) packed into the one insert.
How does it auto-adjust to the opening width?
The insert reads the opening and picks the shoe shelf size for you:
- A 28-inch-wide opening gives a 24-inch shoe shelf.
- Over 30 inches gives a 30-inch shoe shelf.
- It also does a 36-inch size.
- Once an opening goes over 40 inches, it jumps straight to custom holes — Phill notes you're getting into "weird territory" past that point.
In the demo, widening the unit to about 32 inches changed a 3-hole layout to 4 holes in the correct position automatically.
How do I open and configure the insert?
- Open the insert and go to the Interior tab — you'll see it as a single opening.
- The parameters appear below the opening.
- Set the number of shelves — the insert supports up to 10 shelves.
- Set the fastener type (see next section).
- Pick the brand and, optionally, the color.
What fastener options are there?
You set the fastener one of two ways:
- A shelf pin, or
- A Titus / Rafix outrigger placed in the underside near the back.
The outrigger lines up with your line bore. All the shoe-fence holes are also there, and everything is drilled from underneath, so there are no flip operations. The shelves stay fully adjustable with visual shelf adjustment.
Which brands and colors are supported?
Phill programmed five different brands with five different colors — the colors are an added bonus, but the real value is that all the shoe-shelf holes are pre-drilled for every brand. Brands named in the walkthrough include Hardware Resources (selected in the demo), Häfele, and Rev-A-Shelf. Switching the brand changes the shoe fence itself, and you can then change the color (for example, brass or gold).
When do the custom-hole parameters come into play?
If you don't want to go by a preset brand, choose custom. Doing custom holes is what activates the outer hole separation and inner hole separation parameters. For most jobs you can rely on the five brands and only branch out to custom when needed; openings over 40 inches also force custom automatically.
How do I handle pricing for the insert?
The insert comes with the PAC Closet Library as an add-on and defaults to quantity 5, and you bring it out as you need it. To price specific configurations, copy the insert and set a quantity (5, 6, 7, 8 — whatever your "heavy hitters" are, the sizes you use most), then enter individual pricing for each.
How is the insert distributed and installed?
Anyone who already owns the PAC Library will get an entire insert library sent out, with a separate video covering install (Phill says it takes about 30 seconds). Per the video, if you bought the library before October 27, 2025, you'll receive an email with the library to drop in; if you bought after October 27, 2025, it's already set up in your library and ready to go.

FAQ
How does the PAC angled shoe shelf insert pick the shelf width automatically?
It reads the opening width. A 28-inch-wide opening gets a 24-inch shoe shelf; over 30 inches gets a 30-inch shoe shelf; it also does a 36-inch size. Once an opening goes over 40 inches, the insert switches straight to custom holes.
What fasteners hold the angled shoe shelf in the PAC insert?
You set the fastener type to either a shelf pin or a Titus / Rafix outrigger. The outrigger goes in the underside near the back and lines up with your line bore. Everything is drilled from underneath, so there are no flip operations, and the shelves stay fully adjustable.
